Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is an Au Pair?

Being an Au Pair is a cultural and transformative experience. It is an exchange in which young people, mainly women, live with a host family in another country to take care of children, learn the local language, and immerse themselves in a new culture. With GO360, you do it with support, preparation, and a community network.
What is PAIR?

PAIR is the French acronym for “par a par,” which means that the relationship between the Au Pair and the family should be equitable: you provide care, they offer you a home, food, and a cultural experience. It is not a formal job, it is an exchange with rights and responsibilities.
What does an Au Pair do?

They accompany the children in their daily routine: games, meals, homework, schedules, school activities, etc. They may also help with light household tasks related to the children.
What can't an Au Pair do?

They should not be responsible for heavy household chores (such as cleaning the entire house or cooking for the whole family), caring for elderly people, or working more hours than allowed by the country’s regulations.
What should you say in an Au Pair interview?

Be yourself, show your genuine interest in the culture and the children. Speak honestly, be mindful of your attitude, and show empathy. At GO360, we prepare you with mock interviews and personalized advice so you can shine.
What is the job of an Au Pair?

Your “job” is to take care of the children and be an active part of the family. Although it is not a job per se, there are rules and schedules. It varies between 25 and 35 hours per week, depending on the country.
How does being an Au Pair work?

You sign up, prepare yourself, choose a country and family, travel, and live with them for an agreed period of time (12 months). The family covers room and board, you receive a weekly allowance, and you take a language course. With GO360, we guide you from start to finish.
In which countries can I be an Au Pair for 2 years?

Many countries only allow you to participate once or have a limit on the number of years you can stay. However, in Denmark and France, you can be an Au Pair for two years in a row.
How long does it last to be an Au Pair?

Normally 12 months, depending on the country. It can be from 3 months onwards.
How much does an Au Pair earn per month?

An Au Pair’s payment is not a salary as such, but a weekly or monthly allowance that covers your personal expenses while the host family provides you with accommodation, food, and other amenities. The amount depends on the country, its regulations, and the cost of living.
Europe: between €280 and €450 per month
North America: between $720 and $900 per month
Asia: between $200 and $500 per month

How many days of vacation does an Au Pair get?

This varies depending on the country, but it can range from 2 to 4 weeks per year as an Au Pair nanny.

Is 27 too old to be an Au Pair?

It depends on the country. In most of Europe, the age limit is between 26 and 30. For example, in Germany you can apply up to the age of 26, but in countries such as Austria or France they accept girls who are a little older. If you are close to the age limit, time is of the essence and we can help you speed up the process.
What is the age limit to be an Au Pair?

Generally, it is between 18 and 26 years old, but some European countries allow applications up to 27 or 30 years old if you meet other requirements (such as experience, language level, or education). At GO360, we analyze your profile to find the ideal country for your age and goals.
What type of visa is required to be an Au Pair?

It depends on the country. In Europe, it is an Au Pair visa, which is different from a tourist visa. This visa allows you to live legally in the country, receive financial compensation, and study the local language. Don’t worry, at GO360 we help you with all the paperwork and visa application.
How much does it cost to be an Au Pair?

Being an Au Pair is not an expense, it is an investment in yourself. In Europe, the program is inexpensive compared to studying or traveling on your own. However, there are some initial costs, such as:
- Document translation
- International medical insurance
- Visa
- Airfare
Most European countries do not require you to pay for the program, and host families cover your accommodation, food, local insurance, and language courses. Many families are even willing to pay for your ticket. At GO360, we help you plan this process in a safe, clear, and realistic way.
What is the 2-year rule for Au Pairs?

This rule applies mainly in the United States, where you must have been an Au Pair for a maximum of 2 years (one initial year plus a 12-month extension).
In Europe, most countries allow a maximum of 12 months, although some, such as France and Denmark, allow an extension of up to 2 years if both parties agree.

You decide who you want to go with. The families contact you and you conduct interviews.
You are not obligated to accept the first option. It is a mutual selection process where you also evaluate whether they are a good fit for you

This money is for your personal expenses: transportation, outings, shopping, or savings. The family covers your food, lodging, and insurance, so the money you receive is 100% yours.

You will improve your language skills, communication, leadership, conflict resolution, organization, empathy, and intercultural adaptation. It’s an ideal experience for your personal and professional growth!

It can happen. If there is no compatibility, you can change families (rematch). We have protocols to help you find a new family that is a better fit for you.
How do I know if being an Au Pair is right for me?
